Notes and Comments

1. The Chronology of Redemption records 10 Jubilee Cycles of 49 years (with intercalation) from the Passover of 458 BC to the Crucifixion of Christ in AD 33. This period is called 'seventy weeks' in Daniel 9: 24.

2. The Commandment given by Artaxerxes, King of Persia, to Nehemiah to restore and to build Jerusalem was not, however, given at the Passover but 10 days later, as a close examination of the chronology shows - that is, in the evening of the 24th day of the 1st month (Nisan) April 25th 458 BC.

3. From this starting point, exactly 483 solar years ran their course to April 25th AD 26, when John the Baptist commenced his testimony to 'Messiah the Prince' at the close of the days of unleavened bread (Nisan 21st).

Daniel's Seventieth 'Week'

These last seven years were lost to the Jews because they failed to see in Jesus of Nazareth the long-promised Messiah of Israel. Because of this, the prophecy of Daniel 9: 26 (RV) leaves them unreckoned, and simply states, 'and after the threescore and two weeks (making, with the previous seven, sixty-nine weeks in all) shall Messiah be cut off, and have nothing' (see Chart 1). The last seven years are, therefore, held over to be relived at the end of the Gentile age, as detailed in the Book of Revelation, chapters 4 to 19. But, for the believing Jews and the Church of God, the 490 years with their 10 Jubilees were, of course, seen to bring to a close the great 4,000 Years of Redemption - to 'make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness' etc., through the atoning death of Jesus on Calvary.

Time from the Creation to the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ at the Jewish Passover in AD 33

Days 1,500,110
Solar years 4,107 years and 51 days
Lunations 50,798 lunations, 15 days, 14 hours, 38 minutes

Note: From the opening of the day of the Resurrection of Christ to the Ascension were 40 days and 14 hours. The lunations at the Ascension were, therefore, 1 lunation, 11 days, 1 hour, 16 minutes in advance of the above total, that is, 50,799 lunations, 26 days, 15 hours and 54 minutes. It must be remembered that 'the moon was turned into blood' - this signifying that lunar recording was 'dead' and held at a standstill during the two complete days while the body of the Redeemer lay in the sepulchre, as shown in previous pages.
